Combobox doesn't accept spaces only

Issue can be replicated in this demo: https://stackblitz.com/edit/zacujrkn

Replication steps:

  1. Click the combobox to activate it.
  2. Press space key in the keyboard.
  3. Defocus the combobox.
  4. Click the combobox again to activate it.
  5. Result: The space has disappeared.
Normal textbox accepts spaces only, so this behavior seems specific to the combobox.
