Need to get current word without selection or cursor location change

Want to get the word user currently writing or word at cursor position. I don't what to use 

   this.container.documentEditor.selection.selectCurrentWord();

as for this needs 

   this.container.documentEditor.selection.moveToPreviousCharacter();

which changes the cursor location. 

I want build Mention like feature.
