DropDownButtonAdv throwing ArgumentNullException

The DropDownButtonAdv control throws a System.ArgumentNullException if you manually add any DropDownMenuItem to the DropDownMenuGroup via xaml. Seems all versions from 25.1 are affected.

Please see the attached basic sample, if you comment out the drop menu items it will run, otherwise the exception is thrown. The design time preview also shows the error immediately.
