FormValidator for MaskedTextBox returns error on validate

When we declare a required field rule for an input of type maskedtextbox in a formvalidator, when validating the form an error is displayed in the browser as shown in the attached images. If we comment the line with the rule in the maskedtextbox field, the routine works perfectly
