Theme does not change for SfComboBox

I am unable to make changes to the SfComboBox theme using conventional methods. I can see the SfComboBox has a method which is supposed to be fired when the theme changes but it does not. I assume it works in a similar way to Xamarin like the docs highlight here https://help.syncfusion.com/xamarin/themes/themes#overriding-the-control-specific-keys however I have tried that and the colors do not change.
