File manager path variable breaks when subdirectory has prefix of parent directory

The file manager Path variable does not work correctly when navigating a directory that has in its name a prefix that contains the parent directory. For example, if working in a directory  with a path of /tmp/tmptest, the path would be incorrectly be set to /test/, because the tmptest directory has "tmp" at the start, and this is the name of the parent directory. This causes a number of functions to break, such as crashing when viewing directory information.
