Expand / collapse doesn't work if id column is set to visible = false

Per this StackBlitz, if the ID column is not included in the list of columns, the expand / collapse still works. Like this:

But per this StackBlitz, if the ID column is included in the list of columnes, but set to visible: false, the expand / collapse functionality no longer works. Like this:

Empty


Note that configuring the columns this way (with ID in the column list, but set to not visible), was recommended to me in a previous support ticket here. I tried to follow-up on the unexpected behaviour in the proposed solution there, but wondered if I needed a new ticket as this is another issue in its own right?
