FormValidation marks pristine inputs with errors

When I add FormValidators to inputs in a reactive forms FormGroup, my form status becomes INVALID and I cannot submit the form. 

Ex: 

When using syncfusion FormValidator:

Empty

Empty


When using Angular Validator:
Empty

Empty



This doesn't seem like desired behavior because I cannot submit the form due to the INVALID state of a control that is not required.
