Master details IEditableObject for details records not working properly

When both the parent and the child records implement IEditableObject. For the parent records it is working fine (one call per row to begin edit and to end edit, cancel edit in case of cancelling), but for the details records it is not. On every cell in the details grid, it is executing IEditableObject.BeginEdit during begin edit and 

IEditableObject.EndEdit on end editing, while it should do it only on a row level. Thus, the Esc funcinality is not working properly as well and the call 
 to IEditableObject.CancelEdit sometimes executes sometimes not. Can you please check and suggest?
