Error in UrlAdaptor.processResponse

Grid with a column field name 'key'. This causes ERROR TypeError: pvt.groups is undefined in UrlAdaptor.processResponse. Grouping is not used and the problem is resolved by using any other field name.

The offending piece of code in UrlAdaptor:

let key = 'key';
if (!isNullOrUndefined(data.result[0][key])) {
  args.result = this.formRemoteGroupedData(args.result, 1, pvt.groups.length - 1);
}

There needs to be additional checks for grouping, not just if the first data row has a field named key.
