BR tag line breaks disappear when converting to PDF after merge with IF tag

Strange problem occurs when merging into an IF field with HTML <BR / > tags. Debugging the operation shows that it seems to have all the line break elements in the childentities. It also shows line breaks in the word document. It only seems to fail at the point of converting the doc to pdf (although a simplified version without merging does seem to keep the line breaks, so I assume its something specific with merging) I've debugged as far as I can go without the syncfusion source :) so its over to you now.

I've included a sample as simple as I could make it.
