GridImageColumn does not allow sorting

GridImageColumn does not allow sorting.

I made a CustomComparer class according to documentation but it does not get called.

Column has image and text and I would like to sort it based on the diplayed text. is that possible or it is just a limitation of the sfdatagrid?
