when i am setting the recurrencerule in sfrecurrenceeditor I get exceptions Declined - Not Valid

I have a page with gridcontrol on the lhs when i click an item in the page it saves the object to a select item in the page. In the handler

public async Task Grid_RowSelectHandler( object args)

sfRecurrenceEditor.SetRecurrenceRule(selectedItem.RecurrenceRule);

I also do a StateHasChanged();

this line throws an exception ...
