Scroll on gantt view shifts when projectStartDate and projectEndDate change

I'm using both timelineSettings.updateTimescaleView = false and a dataBound function to update the scroll. However, as new data comes in that changes the projectStartDate, the scroll of the gantt chart changes. The dataBound function does scroll it back, but it leads to a jarring experience to have it scroll back and forth.
