No way to handle the escape key cancellation of inplace edit

Inplace edit has an inbuilt behaviour of cancelling the edit operation when the escape key is pressed. There appears to be no way to handle when the operation is cancelled in this way rather than through the cancel button.

As background to the use case; our inplace edit operation requires some custom logic that needs to happen whenever the edit operation is either completed (tick button or enter key) or cancelled (cross button or enter key).
