I have been looking through controls trying to find a control suitable for a team planner dispatching problem for a commercial build.Have spent more that 6 hrs looking and playing with the various examples and sample code.
I was wondering if someone can confirm my findings or better point out what I missed, before I look at tools from other vendors.
Originally i looked at the UWP controls. I have since discovered they have much less functionality than the WPF controls.
So now im only considering the WPF controls.
The requirement is a follows.
Dock control for various views. (YES) meets requirements. Alternative Split grid. (Also fit for problem).
Datagrid/Tree grid with Source data that needs to be planned. needs sort/filter/color etc. (Yes)
Source of Drag and drop (tbc) but I assume can drag to another control.
The target view is a resource schedule.
SfScheduler (New) and the gannt looked to be possibilities.
A hybrid of the 2 is what I was looking for. But the gantt view was fixed in the project/task view and didnt have a resource view.
So the gantt comparison is only relevant since it had expandable tree area, that controlled the what was visible in Timeline.
See attached diagram showing the type of control we are looking for.
A resource tree (Similar to the Task tree in the gantt control on the left).
The resource tree allows for multiple teams to be planned.
The various teams can be expanded or collapsed.
The timeline view would the target of the drop for drag event from a Datagrid
Within the Timeline already dispatched items can be dragged to an alternate resource.
It looks like to achieve what I want would require a Datagrid With Custom generated Columns to mimic a timeline.
So we would have an implement the timeline part ourselves.
It looks to me as if the resource part of the Scheduler view is limited.
Your thoughts.
