Feature Description

  • Implement client-side import and export in the Spreadsheet component so users can load and save spreadsheet data locally without server-side processing.
  • Needed to remove the current dependency on server-based Syncfusion XlsIO endpoints (openUrl, saveUrl) for opening/saving Excel files.
  • Solves the limitation where import/export actions require a server because XlsIO is currently .NET-only.
  • Scope includes client-side open and save for Excel file formats within the Spreadsheet component.
  • Expected behavior: users can open local Excel files into the Spreadsheet and export the current Spreadsheet content to local Excel files directly on the client side.

Requirements

  • Mandatory functionality:
    • Client-side import (open) of Excel (.xlsx) files.
    • Client-side export (save) to Excel (.xlsx).
    • Operation must not require server requests; should not rely on openUrl or saveUrl.
  • Technical constraints:
    • Implementation depends on the availability of a client-side package from the Syncfusion XlsIO enabling import/export on the client.
  • Behavioral expectations:
    • Existing import/export actions in the Spreadsheet should operate client-side when the client-side package is present.

UI Expectations

  • Use the existing Spreadsheet import/export actions; when client-side support is available, these actions should perform locally (no server round-trips).

Success / Acceptance Criteria

  • Import: Selecting a local .xlsx file loads data into the Spreadsheet without invoking server endpoints.
  • Export: Triggering export produces a local .xlsx download without invoking server endpoints.
  • Format coverage: Excel are supported for both import and export.
  • Dependency: Feature functions upon integration of the client-side XlsIO package enabling these operations.
