Essential UI Kit

The Essential UI Kit for Xamarin.Forms is Ready to Use

We are happy to announce to the Xamarin community the availability of Essential UI Kit! As I stated in my previous blog, this update comes with more than 35 reusable XAML pages with a new Visual Studio extension.

In this blog, I will share the resources you need to get started with the Essential UI Kit in your Xamarin.Forms applications.

Visual Studio extension: The extension with the item templates for adding screens is available at the following location:

https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=SyncfusionInc.Essential-UI-Kit-Xamarin-Forms

You can simply select the screens you need and the extension will take care of the rest. It will add all the required files for your selected screens, including all required third-party NuGet packages, platform-specific project resources, styles, views, view models, models, converters, and behaviors.

Source code: The complete source code is available on GitHub. If you want to explore the source code of all the screens, just clone or download the following repository:

https://github.com/syncfusion/essential-ui-kit-for-xamarin.forms

Preview app: A previewer app is available with all the screens in the Google Play Store. Just install it on your phone and you can check out all the screens within the elegantly designed browser app.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.syncfusion.xamarin.uikit

Documentation: The help documentation on how to install the extension and add the screens to your Xamarin.Forms application is available at:

https://help.syncfusion.com/xamarin/uikit/gettingstarted

And lastly, thank you all for your interest in this product. More exciting things will be coming soon to the Essential UI Kit. If you want your request to be part of it, let us know what you need through our feedback portal.

Hi Paulo,

Thank you for trying Essential UI Kit for Xamarin.Forms.

We do not have Visual Studio extension support for Mac. We already have feature request for this. Please vote the below report,

https://www.syncfusion.com/feedback/7874/extension-for-vs-macos

To use our UI Kit in Mac, we request you to directly copy the required files from the below location till we provide VS extension support for Mac,

Thanks,
Prabakaran

Isn’t this likely to be confused with Xamarin Essentials? Is it in any way associated with Microsoft Xamarin Essentials?

Hi Damian,

Thank you for contacting us.

The Essential UI Kit is not related to Microsoft Xamarin Essentials and the name will not cause any confusions as the purpose of both are different. The Essential UI Kit is providing XAML pages/templates for Xamarin applications whereas Microsoft Xamarin Essentials provides APIs for Xamarin applications. Also, the Essential UI Kit is not a NuGet package as like Xamarin Essentials.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks,
Meikanda Nayanar I

Hi Ashish,

We have published the Essential UI Kit source code in GitHub with an MIT license. You can use this UI Kit pages in your application for free without any restrictions.

But for the pages that use Syncfusion controls, you must get the licenses to use those controls in your application to avoid the license validation pop-ups. The Syncfusion provides free community licenses that provide access to all the Syncfusion products for individual developers and small businesses. (updated the links below to know more about the Syncfusion free community licenses).

Alternatively, you can replace the Syncfusion controls with the framework controls and use them to avoid getting any licenses.

For more details about the Essential UI Kit license, please refer

Regarding the Syncfusion licenses, please refer

To know more about the Syncfusion community licenses, please refer

Please let us know if you need any further assistance in this.

Thanks

Hi Prabhakaran,

I saw your webinar and installed Essential UI Kit in my xamarin. When the application starts its pop up with a licence warning. Looks like the essential UI kit is not free. Kindly guide how to remove this.

Hi Prabhakaran,

I have the same issue as well, in GitHub and in the above thread, you mentioned it to be having an MIT License but when i add a navigation list card page and run it on android, it gives me a pop-up with a licence warning and requests me to either buy a syncfusion license or opt for a 30 day trial.

If it is an MIT license, why is the prompt coming up. Is there a way to remove it?

Regards,

First of all thank you for this great Kit! I was wondering if it is possible to get the old Contacts Page which listed contacts in a list instead of just listing contact images. While the new format is great I think most of the time in the real world we do not have images of all of our contacts.

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for contacting us.

We are implementing various ‘contact page’ layouts for our upcoming release which is expected to be available by Feb 5, 2020. I hope your requirements will be addressed in this release. Meanwhile, can you share any references (Screenshots, links) of your requirement for better understanding?

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks,
Meikandan

As others have asked but you have consistently avoided answering …

Can you just tell me how to uninstall this from Visual Studio for Mac.

Too painful get ting it to work ….errors all over the place. I keep getting Nullreference errors….i’ve got 1 page to work so far!! Contact us…..That’s it!! Even that took some tweaking to get rid of missing references and errors.
It certainly is no where near as seamless as you make out!!!!
