Formatting

This section explains the formatting capabilities of Essential XlsIO.

XlsIO provides you options to set the text font, text color, background color, text alignment, back ground pattern, etc. for the cells. The different format settings available for a cell are illustrated below.

Alignment

Essential XlsIO supports Horizontal and Vertical alignment settings within the cells, even rotated text.

Font

Essential XlsIO has API support for customizing the font that will be used for rendering the text in the cells.

Border

Essential XlsIO has APIs to insert and format Borders.

Number Formatting

MS Excel displays a number in a cell depending on the Number Format applied to it. The same number can be displayed in different formats based on the number format associated with it. XlsIO has API for reading and writing the number format in a cell.

Color Palette

Essential XlsIO has support for adding new colors to Excel's core color palette.

Pattern

Essential XlsIO has APIs to specify the background pattern of a cell.

Essential XlsIO has support for adding and modifying common styles that can be applied to more than one cell in a workbook. These styles can be created and applied to several ranges in the workbook.

Styles Customization

Customizing the styles settings of your worksheet can be done by XLsIO. This feature also comes with an added flexibility of allowing the users to either include or exclude certain formats in a worksheet just like Excel.

Essential XlsIO provides well-defined APIs to apply default styles for rows and columns. Once you have defined a style you can apply this style to all the cells in a row or a column using a single function call, thus optimizing the way of formatting worksheets with large number of rows or columns.

XlsIO allows you to do conditional formatting on spreadsheet cells. It is a technique by which the cell contents are dynamically formatted based on certain criteria.

XlsIO has well-defined APIs to read and write the conditional format from or to a cell in a workbook. Below screenshots illustrate few different conditional formats.

Rich text can be added to cells via XlsIO APIs. The rich text content in cells in an existing workbook can also be read using Essential XlsIO.

Essential XlsIO supports the insertion of Scalar and Vector images into a worksheet. It is also possible to position the image at any desired location.

Essential XlsIO allows you to add hyperlinks to cell contents in the workbook. It has APIs to read and write hyperlinks in the workbook.

The different format settings is automatically copied from one range of cells to another range during a copy operation. So, you don’t have to worry about applying formatting again after copying the cells.
