Custom Symbols
Custom Symbols can be easily created using the Symbol Designer Utility. Such symbols can then be added to the Symbol Palette in a Diagram Builder Application or simply be reused in diagrams you might create programatically.

Essential Diagram's Symbol Designer Utility allows users to create custom symbols, draw shapes, create groups, set styles and add ports and labels. It can be also be used to combine symbols into symbol palettes that can be loaded on the symbol palette control. This utility saves symbol palettes to *Essentia Diagram Palette files (.edp). They can then be used whenever needed. This utility makes it easy to create new symbols and palettes.

Microsoft Visio shapes imported from stencil files adhere to all aspects of diagram node behavior and can be used in the same manner as regular diagram symbols. MS Visio symbols are fully supported by the Essential Diagram styles, property inheritance model, and document serialization. Visio stencil import is demonstrated in the Diagram Builder sample and the Symbol Designer application that are included with Essential Diagram.
