Syntax Highlighting and Code Coloring

EditControl supports syntax highlighting and code coloring which enahances the readability of the code. The EditControl supports highlighting of embedded scripts as well as plain text. XML-based configuration files are used for syntax highlighting. EditControl offers built-in support for highlighting the syntax of certain commonly used languages. The configuration files are extensible and can be configured to highlight any desired language.

The EditControl supports a Configuration Editor dialog box for customizing configuration settings at run-time.

We have predefined configuration files for languages like SQL, Pascal, HTML, VB.NET, XML, and C# and plan to create more configuration files for other languages in the near future. One can also define the configuration settings for custom languages.

The EditControl offers fully configurable syntax highlighting while editing of text. Syntax highlighting greatly improves the readability of any text and has found its way into many commercial applications.

Syntax highlighting is accomplished in the EditControl through the use of XML based configuration files. Configuration files control and exhibit the following features:
